Orton-Gillingham

A Logical Way to Learn Reading & Spelling

Strong Foundations uses the Orton-Gillingham approach to teach our students reading and spelling skills. We start in Readiness teaching the beginning skills of letters and sounds through the advanced levels in of morphology (roots and affixes) in Grade 6. We believe that since English is an alphabetic language, students will progress faster using this approach than any other approach. We have found that as a result, our students are accelerating beyond their peers in other schools that don’t use a phonetic approach.
